For $250, a LawProse lawyer will develop a personalized curriculum for you: a course of study tailored specifically to your particular needs. We’ll evaluate your writing and give you a memo detailing the edits we recommend. You’ll also receive a hand-edited version of your sample.

First, send us three to five samples of your writing (motions, briefs, memos, letters, contracts)—no live documents that are set for filing or presenting. Please don’t redact names, but if you need to protect privileged information, then change the names (please avoid XYZ Corp. and ABC Inc.). We’d like to see what you deal with on a regular basis, so choose samples of your typical work product—not one-off documents that you’re likely never to use again.

Next, using one or more of your samples, we’ll evaluate your writing and write you a short memo outlining areas that need work. (We typically spend two to five hours working on a packet.) We’ll also give you two lists, one of suggested online programs and another of suggested outside reading.

The online courses are available every day, here on our website. You create your own schedule. Most of our students take them once a week (Saturday or Sunday morning) to keep themselves on track.

After receiving our evaluation, you can be as intensely involved with us as you like or completely hands-off—whatever best suits you and your style of learning.

If you choose the more intense route (as many students do), you’ll select one of your submitted writing samples to use as a working template throughout your training. After each completed online (and live) course, you’ll apply your new skills to this template. Then you can send this template to us for review, and we’ll give you feedback on the new version.

We recommend this level of interaction to make the most of your curriculum. But you may wish to have a more limited correspondence. That’s fine, too. We just want you to know that we’re here to help walk you through the program to ensure you’re getting the guidance you need.

Also, you can contact us if you have any questions about an online program you just finished or about how to implement the skills into your template successfully.

This step-by-step program helps you build skills over time without overloading yourself. We’ve created this to work within your schedule.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Send a personal statement plus your samples (at least two pages apiece) to Karolyne Cheng at kcheng@lawprose.org.
