For $150, the five staff lawyers at LawProse will develop a personalized curriculum for you: a course of study tailored specifically to your particular needs. We’ll evaluate your writing and give you a memo detailing the edits we recommend. You’ll also receive a hand-edited version of your sample.

First, send us 3–5 samples of your writing (motions, briefs, memos, letters, contracts). No live documents that are set for filing or presenting. Please don’t redact names but if you need to protect privileged information, then change the names (please avoid XYZ Corp. and ABC Inc.). We’d like to see what you deal with on a regular basis so avoid the one-off document that you’re likely to never use again.

Next, we’ll evaluate your writing and highlight a short memo outlining areas to work on. Then there are two lists, one with suggested online programs and another of outside reading.

The online courses are available from our website at www.lawprose.org. The online courses are available every day. You create your own schedule. Most of our students take them once a week (Saturday or Sunday morning) to keep themselves on track.

You can be as intensely involved with us or completely hands-off after you receive our evaluation. It’s completely up to you and your style of learning.

Some participants choose the more intense route: select one of your submitted writing samples to use as a working template throughout your training. After each completed online (and live) course, you’ll apply your new skills to this template. Then you can send this template to us for review and we’ll give you feedback on the new version.

This is a suggested level of interaction with us. But you may wish to have a more limited correspondence. That’s fine too. We just want you to know that we’re here to help walk you through the program to ensure you’re getting the guidance you need.

Also, you can contact us if you have any questions about an online program you just finished or how to implement the skills successfully into your template.

This is a step-by-step program that helps you build skills over time without overloading your plate. We’ve created this to work within your schedule.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Send a personal statement plus your samples (of at least two pages apiece) to Karolyne Cheng at kcheng@lawprose.org.
